Wish List- through the eye of a needle
Yesterday, I decided that I should write a wish list. Once I had written a fancy list of 12 items, I decided to mark the more important things. I looked through the list of things like ipod, laptop, Finale software, and other things like it, I realized that for many of the things I desire, I already have a sufficient way of doing the things these items would do. I have an MP3. a family computer. a pencil and stave paper. mascara. I have EVERYTHING I need, and quite a bit of what I really want. But my selfish being wants the new version. the better version. multiple colors of the same thing. more. more. more.
It may be old news, but even the poorest Americans are richer than much of the modern world. We are likely as wealthy as the rich man Jesus meets (Mark 10)
23And Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How difficult it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!”24And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, “Children, how difficult it isb to enter the kingdom of God!25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
I’m feeling super convicted in my desires for earthly possessions. How much are they weighing me down? Do I deserve better than any other child of God? No I don’t.
Pray for me dear followers. Pray that I’ll not feel guilt but rather conviction and to act on this for God’s glory. :]
