This is true, but God made a perfect man and a perfect woman. They had zero problems! It had nothing to do with their personalities, but everything to do with their righteousness. Now, because of sin, discernment is necessary. I can’t just meet a perfect girl, and girls can’t meet a perfect man. They don’t exist anymore. I don’t believe that Scripture ever points to the notion that God creates a specific mate for any man or woman. However, Scripture is full of evidence that we should be the right person for God. Isn’t it hypocritical for us to teach that we need to find the right person? Shouldn’t we just focus on living for God and find someone who is willing to live for the Lord with all of their hearts? Men, if you find a woman who fears the Lord, you have found the “right” girl. Women, if you find a man who fiercely fights for the Lord, and is after His very own heart, you have found the “right” man.
There is nothing wrong with dating around to find the best one for you, and there is nothing wrong with praying for God to reveal the “one” to you. But might I submit that both are still not the right way of going about finding a spouse. Instead of looking for someone that’s the best for you, and instead of praying for your soul mate(which isn’t Biblical, but is New Age), how about we be the best and pray that God will make us good enough to meet the requirements of marriage? And then maybe one day, you will bump into someone who is doing the same thing. Then after much prayer and reasoning, you will decide marriage would be the best course of action. I now submit to you a 2-minute video on what has happened to Christian dating: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BiiKx3Lr_o God bless and much loveSamuel Assaf
